GENERAL NOTES: According to a letter from Henry's granddaughter, Lorraine Mary Johnson Barron, to Timothy J. Barron, Henry was educated by Catholic nuns, and the classes were taught half of the day in English, and the other half in German. Henry was a rural mail carrier from 1888 to 1913, and before that he was a shoemaker. He was also a farmer, county assessor, and a tax collector. Henry and Elizabeth lived near Allentown, Wisconsin, on a farm between Allentown and St. Anthony's parish in Washington County, Wisconsin. After Elizabeth died, Henry never remarried and spent the last 2-3 years living with his son Charles in Woodstock, McHenry County, Illinois. Henry died from a cerebral hemorrhage, hemiplegia, and bronchial pneumonia. Both Henry and Elizabeth are buried at the cemetery behind St. Anthony du Padua Catholic Church, near Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin. According to a notebook from Rose Theresa Brunner Delyea, dated 1960-1970, Elizabeth "was a small woman with a hard life with a drunken husband. She was the favorite of her family, everyone loved her. Died at Milwaukee Hosptial at 45 years." (Research Sources: Timothy J. Barron, some data found in "Nienhaus Family History and Genealogy" and provided by Carol Duffrin Prestin)
