Photographs from County Wicklow, Ireland All photos are copyrighted and may not be used for commercial purposes. The following photographs were taken during three holidays to Ireland in October 2006, July 2008, and July 2009. The camera used for the 2006 and 2008 photographs was a Kodak P880 digital camera, which is a 8 megapixel camera. The camera used for the 2009 photographs was a Sony Cybershot DSC-W170 digital camera, which is a 10 megapixel camera. Click on each photo for enlargement. County Wicklow, Ireland - County Wicklow is one the most scenic counties on the east coast. The terrain includes mountains, forests, lakes and valleys. Some of the scenic attractions in the county include the Powerscourt Estate and gardens, the Glendalough glacial valley and monastic settlement, and the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Photographs of all three are included below. County Wicklow is the county directly south of County Dublin and the city of Dublin. Most of these attractions are easily accessible from Dublin via a variety of bus services or bus tours. Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland - Glendalough is an extremely scenic and beautiful glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland. Located in the valley are miles of walking and hiking trails, including paths to a lower lake and an upper lake. The valley is widely known for the ruins of a 6th century monastic settlement, which includes a round tower, a cathedral, and a few churches. Powerscourt Estate, Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland - The Powerscourt Estate consists of a large estate home, magnificent gardens, and a waterfall. There was a house (castle) on the site dating from the 13th century, and it was dramatically altered in the 18th century. A 1974 fire destroyed all interior aspects of the home, and it was re-built in 1996. The gardens include Italian formal gardens and a Japanese garden. Another interesting feature in the gardens is a pet cemetery. The home, gardens and waterfall are now all open to the public.
