This photograph of Fannie (Swango) Rose, the wife of James Nelson Rose.

This photograph was taken during the summer of 1901 at Stillwater in Wolfe
County, Kentucky. James Nelson Rose is sitting in the middle of the front
row with his third wife, Elizabeth (Fletcher) Rose. The couple to the far
left is David Bowen Rose and Mary Catherine (Whisman) Rose. The couple
second from left is George Washington Rose and Eliza Jane (Chaney) Rose.
George is standing behind her. At the time of the photograph, Eliza was
pregnant with Fannie. The young woman standing behind James and Elizabeth
is probably their daughter Josie. The identity of the others are not known.
James's first wife was Fannie Francis (Swango) Rose. Fannie drowned in
1877, and James married Elizabeth. Fannie is the mother of George.
